It is required by Provincial law to state the costs of the work to be performed, including labour and materials.

"Dwellings created" means the number of dwelling units created or added by the construction work.

"Dwellings lost" means the number of dwelling units lost through demolitions, renovations or changes to a building, such as combining apartment units together.

If the development permit is for a structure (eg. camp, shed, small garage), please indicate the total floor area of the structure measured in square feet (sq. ft.).
'Total floor area' means the aggregate of the floor areas of a building above and below grade, measured between the exterior faces of the exterior walls of the building at each floor level.

Permits can be issued in ten (10) business days where the required documents are included with the applications and the plans comply with zoning and the building code. Starting without the issued permit is a violation of provincial law.

Indicate the height from average grade to the tallest point on the building's roof or structure (eg. top of fence, peak of utility tower, etc.), and please indicate the height of the structure measured in feet (ft).

The National Building Code 2015 now identifies certain areas in NB to meet safety requirements to account for increased seismic movement. Changes may be minimal.

Sign diagrams are required for all sign permits. The diagram must show the letter dimensions, sign materials, and colours of the sign.

Freestanding, portable, or projecting signs require a site plan.
Fascia signs require a drawing showing the dimensions and location of the sign on the wall of the building.

In addition to applying for a building or development permit, you will need to start a separate civic address request. This form may be used for civic address requests for properties with existing buildings inside of the Village of Grand Manan, Rural Community of Campobello Island, and in the Rural Community of Fundy Shores only. If you are outside of these communities, please use the select the correct option above.

Survey must indicate the location of all current buildings as well as their distances to property lines.

In order to receive a building or development approval in New Brunswick, you are required by law to demonstrate that you have requested a civic address.
If your development is located in Eastern Charlotte, St. Stephen, Saint Andrews, or McAdam, you are required to contact that municipality to obtain a civic address.
